Case Study:
Why this matters in the SunSafe® Standard This formula is built on zinc oxide — a mineral UV filter we trust and rate as marine and reef-friendly.
Where it gets a little more complex is in the texture control added ingredients.
To create that smooth, long-wear BB cream finish, the formula uses a couple of synthetic film-forming ingredients (like VP/Eicosene Copolymer and Silica Dimethyl Silylate).
These are not known reef killers — and overall, this is a low marine risk formula. But they are synthetic polymers, which means they don’t readily break down in the environment and can contribute to long-lasting micro-debris in waterways. So while this product is a great fit for everyday Beauty use, it doesn’t make our Reef category.
❤️ Not for beach day babes — save this one for swim-less days.
We’re also big fans of this brand’s Wot Not baby and family range, which does meet our SunSafe® Junior standards — and remains a go-to for sensitive little skins.
At The Sunscreen List™, we stay transparent about where products shine — and why they don’t quite meet every category.
